June 13: Boston, MA.  How to Use Acupuncture to Balance the Hormones  with Li Zheng, Ph.D., L.Ac.  $150.  Li Zheng will address an important issue in medicine -- hormone balance -- from both the Western medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine viewpoints.  Li Zheng will illustrate both Chinese and Western medical perspectives on how acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine can be used to quickly relax the mind and body, reduce stress and pain, speed up metabolism, strengthen the muscle, balance immune function, reduce inflammation, increase the chances of fertility in women, help people quit smoking or eliminate addiction, and reduce the signs of aging. Common Western medical knowledge and numerous recent discoveries will be discussed in this class to decipher the science of Chinese medicine and make it more comprehensible to acupuncturists, physicians, and the general public. The class will cover the main functions of different hormones and the autonomic nervous system, causes of the imbalance of hormones and the nervous system, diseases triggered by the imbalance, and how acupuncture and herbal medicine help restore the balance, as well as the groups of people who will benefit the most from acupuncture treatment. Case studies will help illustrate how the most common health problems such as obesity, chronic and acute pain, thyroid problems, autoimmune disease, high cholesterol, prostate problems, and women's problems, can be solved in simple ways.  Li Zheng, PhD, LicAc graduated from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine in 1987. After her residence training, Dr. Zheng served for a year as an attending physician in the hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine in neurology, cardiology, nephrology, pneumology, gastrointestinology, gynecology and surgery of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
