March 24-25: Columbia, MD. Treating the Endocrine System with Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine with Jeffrey Yuen. Sponsored by Maryland Acupuncture Society.

This weekend seminar will focus on integrating theories of the endocrine system with Chinese medicine. There will be a focus on the inter-relationship between the glands and their energetic similarities to the features of the Zang-Fu, particularly the San Jiao. Participants will develop strategies using acupuncture and herbal applications to treat endocrine issues relating to immunity, autoimmunity, neurology, and psychology.

The endocrine system of biomedicine is closely related to the concepts and theories articulated by the Jin-Ye within the perspective of Chinese medicine. The relationship of ye-thick fluids to the jing-essence and their impact on the processes of human development, physiology, and aging conveys some of the functions associated with the hormonal secretions of our body. More importantly, the attributes associated with the jin-ye to xue-blood and their respective Zang-Fu (as well as the Curious Fu) relationship clarify for the practitioner of Chinese medicine a better understanding of some of the major issues clinically seen pertaining to the endocrine system.

Skin problems, which affect more than 10 million Americans, can be one of the most frustrating and stubborn group of symptoms to successfully treat. Many pharmaceutical solutions offer quick relief but do not provide a lasting solution, and come with risks such as toxic build-up in the body and weakening of other organ systems. Chinese Medicine can be safer and intends to address the root cause of the symptom instead of covering it up each time it appears. Dermatology is a recognized specialty in traditional Chinese Medicine. Treatments for skin disorders have been described as early as 1100-221 BC in China.  Acupuncture and Chinese herbs offer a natural solution to improving skin conditions with its sophisticated system, both external and internal administration. They are drawn from many Chinese sources, including An Mo Dao Yin, Er Shi Duan Jin, Yang Shen Gong, Pai Da Gong, simple Qigongs, Daoist Yoga, and more.
Some of the exercises focus on a specific part of the body, while others influence the entire body at once. You’ll be introduced to ways of selecting the exercises prescriptively, best addressing your personal health goals, or those of your patients.
